| Ringsted is a beautiful city located in the middle of the Danish island of Zealand, approximately 60 km away from Copenhagen. The most important toursit attraction is Saint Bendt's Church (Skt. Bendts Kirke). It was built around 1080 by Svend Nordmand, the bishop of Roskilde. The lay-out of the church changed four times as it is shown by miniature models inside. The church has a very nice interior and it houses a coin collection and also some old equipment that was used during masses for example. The church also houses the tombs of several Danish kings of the 12th-13th centuries. In front of the church is the statue of Valdemar the Great. |
