| Situated in the north-eastern part of Finland, Kuusamo is a major center for winter sports. One of the largest Skiing centrums in Finland, Ruka, is found here. Ruka hosts many international competitions in ski jumping, cross country skiing freestyle skiing and nordic combined. Kuusamo is also known for its natural beauty. The Arctic Circle creates its own light, which varies in hue and intensity during each season of the year. In the winter, the sun stays low and Northern Lights dance across the heavens. From fell summits, the landscape reflects thousands of snow white shades in the winter light, while thousands of brilliant stars twinkle. You will discover a diversity of plants, forest trees and marsh shrubs bearing berries. In late summer, forests are blue with blueberries and marshes yellow with golden cloudberries. |
