| Keszthely is the oldest town around Lake Balaton. The main attraction of the town is represented by the magnificent Baroque Festetics Castle. Its park and rooms host important concerts, music master classes in the summer months. The park, an example of English landscape gardening, contains many rare plants and flowers. The Balaton Museum is another sight, its display cases depicting the formation of the lake, its flora and fauna, archaeological discoveries. The Roman Catholic Church dating back from the Middle Ages is a must see. Its frescoes are considered to be among the finest works of Hungarian Gothic. |
