The town is home of the famous River Moy, an exceptional source of salmon. The town centre has retained its historic appearance with some notable architecture, including the 15th-century Moyne Abbey, and St Muredach's Cathedral, which is the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Killala. Outside Ballina, on a small hill to the west, stands a dolmen, 4000 years old. |
