Here, Prince Henry the Navigator wondering if there was a route to the Indies established his school of navigation, where Magellan, Diaz, Cabral, and Vasco da Gama apprenticed. At the Sagres Academy, cartography was refined with the use of newly devised instruments, and a revolutionary type of vessel was designed: the caravel. |
