| Located between the two largest lakes in Sweden, Vanern and Vattern and at the foot of Mount Billingen, Skovde is a beautiful city with much to offer: ski slopes, cross-country ski tracks, jogging tracks and forests rich in flora and fauna. The Skovde Municipal Museum houses a copy of the Timboholm treasure (dating from 375 ? 550 AD). There are many beautiful churches that are well worth visiting like Forsby church - Sweden's oldest church, or St Lukas church - considered to be the most beautiful in Sweden. Skovde is also a starting point for exploring many important sights in West Sweden: Lake Hornborga, Sweden's largest aqua park Skara Sommarland, the baroque castle at Lacko, Gota Canal - the blue ribbon of Sweden, the fortress at Karlsborg, the idyllic, turn-of-the-century town of Hjo on Lake Vattern, the medieval town of Skara and the town of Falkoping. |
