Tegucigalpa is a colonial city that grew around a series of silver mines. It is an excellent place from where to visit a series of small colonial towns that retain much of their colonial flavor. It is a gateway to the Pacific coast, and to the attractions that are located in central and southern Honduras. Within this historical center you will find old buildings, such as the Cathedral, dedicated to the patron saint of Tegucigalpa, Miguel Arcangel.
