Hopkins has one of Belize's few mainland beaches, and reclining with a cold beverage under a palm tree here can make the world go away for a while. If you're looking for more motion than a hammock swinging in the breeze, windsurfing and kayaking are easily organized. A stroll down the sandy village walkways to meet and chat with the locals can be a lot of fun and will give you a chance to really experience the place.

ESSENCE OF THE AREA
This is a Garifuna farming and fishing village a great place to retreat and be part of another world for a while, a good base if you want to do some exploring, low-key friendly people, quiet surroundings, sea views easy access to inland tours.
RECOMMENDED STAY
Three to four days. During high season some hotels have a minimum stay of 5 or 7 days.
It is highly recommended to choose a hotel with a meal plan included (FAP-Full American Plan or AI-All Inclusive). Some of the hotels are located away from the town, and getting each meal separately can risk your budget.
RECOMMENDED SIGHTSEEING & ACTIVITIES
Diving and Snorkeling. You can also kayak offshore on the Sitee River or on the freshwater lagoon just north of the village. Biking is easy and relaxing since Hopkins is away from the highway. And great beach for walking. Sailboats.
MUST SEE
Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, Sitee River Canoeing and Kayaking.
