Lake Titicaca is the world`s highest navigable lake, lying at 12,500 feet above sea level. It covers some 3,200 square miles and extends in a northwest-to-southeast direction for a distance of 120 miles. It is 50 miles across at its widest point. A narrow strait, Tiquina, separates the lake into two bodies of water. Forty-one islands, some of them densely populated, rise from Titicaca`s waters. The largest, Sun Island lies just off the tip of the Copacabana Peninsula in Bolivia.
Day 1: La Paz
Pick up at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 2: La Paz-Songo Valley-Huatajata
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart toward Zongo Valley, an exuberant plateau full of vegetation. The place is at the foot of Huayna Potosi mountain. On route, you'll see a typical cemetery and small Andean villages. Continue to Huatajata, at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Welcome at the Andean Roots Eco Village, visit the Altapiano Museum and the Mystic world of Kallawayas(natural healers). Dinner. Overnight at Inca Utama Hotel and Spa. (B, D)
Day 3: Huatajata - Lake Titicaca
Breakfast at the hotel. Hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island to visit the Sun Virgin's Temple Inak Uyu. Continue to Sun Island. Visit Pilcocaina Temple. Soft trek with llamas to Posada del Inca Lodge. Lunch at Posada del Inca Lodge. Afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings. Dinner. Overnight at Posada del Inca Lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Lake Titicaca - Huatajata
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Inca Staircase and the Sacred Fountain. Lunch at Uma Kollu Restaurant with a panoramic view of Lake Titicaca and the Royal Range of mountains. Hydrofoil cruise back to Huatajata. Visit on route the Urus Iruitos Floating Islands and Quewaya Sustainable Project. Continue to Huatajata. Day 5: Huatajata - Coroico
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, depart towards La Paz Valleys; Los Yungas - Coroico. This tour to Yungas crosses over the glacier line, and in only 2 hours, winds down into the high Amazon jungle. A trip from the Royal Range of the Andes to the tropics, surrounded by a magnificent panorama and fast changing fauna and flora, which transports you on an exciting journey from the Fjords of Norway to tropical Africa.
