The most outstanding attractions like Lake Titicaca, the ruins of Tiwanacu, the colonial treasures of Sucre and Potosi, the ecology at its must, as well as, a large variety of special interest programs.
Lake Titicaca is the world`s highest navigable lake, lying at 12,500 feet above sea level. It covers some 3,200 square miles and extends in a northwest-to-southeast direction for a distance of 120 miles. It is 50 miles across at its widest point. A narrow strait, Tiquina, separates the lake into two bodies of water. Forty-one islands, some of them densely populated, rise from Titicaca`s waters. The largest, Sun Island lies just off the tip of the Copacabana Peninsula in Bolivia.
The paved road to/from La Paz to our Huatajata harbor runs parallel with the Royal Range of the Andes. In Huatajata you can enjoy first class accommodations and the most amazing cultures of the Andes in our "Andean Roots" cultural complex.
Day 1: La Paz
Reception at the airport in La Paz and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 2: La Paz- Sucre
Breakfast at the hotel. Early transfer to the airport for your flight to Sucre. Afternoon city tour of Sucre( the constitutional capital of Bolivia), is a living expression of both colonial and modern times. The Cathedral, churches and cloisters of La Recoleta, San Felipe and Guadalupe, the House of Liberty, where Simon Bolivar signed the Declaration of Independence, the Freedom Bell at San Francisco cloister, the second oldest University in South America. San Francisco Xavier, as well as the university Museum offer fine examples of anthropological research, colonial and modern art. Sucre and Potosi are the most respresentative examples of the colonial time and art in the Andes and a visit to these cities takes you back to the 17th Century. Sucre was also declared by UNESCO as "The Historical and Cultural Legacy of Mankind" Overnight at Hotel de su Merced. (B)
Day 3: Sucre
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will visit the famous Colonial City, Potosi, the source of silver during colonial times. The rich mountain towers over the city, and according to lengend, it has produced enough silver to build a solid silver bridge from Potosi to Madrid. The Cathedral, the church of San Francisco and the Casa de la Moneda (Royal Mint), with its wooden machinery used to make the silver coins for Spain during the colony and a visit to a mine care the main local attractions. Potosi was also declared by UNESCO as "The Historical and Cultural Legacy of Mankind". Return to Sucre and overnight at the Hotel de su Merced. (B)
Day 4: Sucre - La Paz- Moon Valley
Early transfer to the airport for your flight to La Paz. Transfer to your hotel in La Paz. In the afternoon, city tour of La Paz and Moon Valley. La Paz is known as the City of Contrast and it is a unique blend of culture and races. Located within breathtaking panoramas. Visit the native, colonial and modern areas, Indian Market, Open air Musuem of Tiwanacu, Witch Doctors Market and Moon Valley. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 5: Lake Titicaca (Golden Triangle of Lake Titicaca)
Breakfast at the hotel. You will be pick up in the afternoon for Huatajata. At the Huatajata Harbor you can enjoy the most spectaculat panorama of the Lake, mountains and the impressive Royal Range of the Andes.
-Visit the Altiplano Museum - where a state of the art audio equipment presents in your own languange our past legacy as the colonial and modern times.
-Visit the Chullpas mortuary of Olden times.
-At the handicrafs and folkloric area, meet the Limachi Brothers, builders of the RA II and TIGRIS for Thor Heyerdhal epic expeditions; see a full size reproduction of RA II and the famous Abora II which has time had one of the Limachi family on board.
-Admire the mud igloos of the Chipayas, pamper our llama, alpacas and shy vicunas.
-In the afternoon, we will visit the Uros Iruitos and Quewaya Sustainable Tourism Project. Here visit their authentic island and understand the 5,000 years of history of this culture. Be a part of our Sustainable Tourism project designed to contribute to the preservation, not only of nature but what it is more important, of the local people survival. Return to Huatajata.
-The evening is introductory to audiovisual and visit the "Mystic World of the Kallawayas". The Kallawayas believed that you have first heal the soul in order to heal the body and the currect medicine is accepting this idea. Meet " Tata Benjo" and have your future told while casting his sacred coca leafs.
-Candlelight Dinner at our Sumaj Untavi Restaurant.
-Night visit to "Alapacha " Meet with the Aymara constellations in our Native Observatory and learn about cosmology. Overnight at Utama Hotel and Spa. (B)
Day 6: Copacabana Urus Iruitos Floating Islands - Huatajata
After breakfast board a hydrofoil and start your Lake Titicaca experience. First visit the Moon Island. Visit the " Inak Uyu" Sun Virgins temple, where the most beautiful virgins of the Incas were conserving a sacred fire dedicated to their Gods. This is an exclusive visit and this temple is considered to be one of the most important ruins on the lake. Continue by hydrofoil to Copacabana and visit the Shrine and the Indian. Also visit the local handicraft market. Your cruise will continue to Sun Island. Visit Pilcocaina Sun Temple on Sun Island and then continue by soft trek with llamas to The Posada del Inca Eco friendly Lodge. Lunch at Posada del Inca Lodge. Afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings. Dinner. Overnight at the Posada del Inca Lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 7:Huatajata- Tiwanacu Ruins - La Paz
After breakfast visit the Inca Stairways and the Sacred Fountain believed to give eternal youth and happiness. Lunch at the archeological and panoramic "Uma Kollu" restaurant which interior wall is "Sukakolo", an authentic Inca scenery of the breathtaking view of Sacred Lake Titicaca and the Royal Range of the Andes. After lunch continue to Huatajata and bus transfer to Tiwanacu and visit Tiwanacu ruins. Tiwanacu was during its splendor period, the largest city in the World and it is considered to be "the Cradle of the American Civilizations" The Sun Gate, the Monoliths. the temples of Kalasasaya and Kontiki, the Akapana artificial Pyramid and their metal and ceramic art work are some examples of the advances development achieved by this culture. Box lunch included. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 8: La Paz - Rurrenabaque- Madidi National Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we visit Madidi National Park of northwest Bolivia, was created in 1995 and protects a full array of tropical ecosystems, from the high Andes to the Amazon basin. Madidi's vast wilderness of 4,500.00 acres encompasses uparalleled biological diversity ranging from monstrance cloud forest to dry tropical forest, humid lowland rainforest to savannah and wild rivers to lakes.
Visit Albergue Ecological Chalalan - Nestled in Madidi National Park, Chalalan has been created with ecotourism in mind, offering comfortable accommodations in the tropical rainforest. The ecolodge sits on the edge of Chalalan lake, deep in Madidi's wilderness. Chalalan is accessed by dugout canoe up the spectacular Beni and Tuichi rivers, 5 hours from the gateway community of Rurrenabque. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Mapajos Eco Lodge in Rurrenabaque. (B)
Day 9: Madidi National Park
Boat trip to the Beni and Tuichi river to Chalalan. Hike from the riverbank to the Lodge alongside Chalalan Lake. Lunch. Relax , swim or canoe in Chalalan Lake. Presentation about Madidi National Park and San Jose de Uchupimonas, the community owners of Chalalan. Dinner. Night hike trail theme- nocturnal rainforest life, frogs, birds and night animals. Overnight at Mapajos Eco Lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 10: Madidi National Park
Breakfast at the Lodge. After breakfast, hike along the Silvador, Almedrillo y Jaguar. Trail theme - medicinal, fruit and exotic plants. Lunch. Relax, swim or canoe in Chalalan Lake. Exploring the area or treking through Wichi and Jaguar trail. Dinner. Traditional night stories and legends from San Jose de Uchupiamonas. Overnight at Mapajos Eco Lodge.

Day 11: Madidi National Park- Rurrenabaque - La Paz
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning hike to the Tuichi river port. Boat trip to arrive in Rurrenabaque to take the flight back to La Paz(flight not included). Transfer and overnight at Hotel Presidente. (B)
