The Pousada do Rio Mutum is situated between the lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore within one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. Located on the Northern region of Pantanal, it is reached by flight into Cuiabá. The transfer from Cuiabá to the lodge is made on a paved road to the city of Barão de Melgaço (85 miles), and from there depending on the time of the year, a 4x4 vehicle, or vehicle and boat combination to the lodge. It takes approximately 3 hours to get there and is in itself, a great opportunity to observe the abundant Pantanal wildlife and flora. There are 16 fully acclimatized apartments with private veranda`s, a swimming pool with a bar, sports facilities and shops. The Pousada has been constructed according to international standards taking into account the demands of modern eco-tourism and the interests of sport fishing. You will find plenty to do. Excursions include bird watching, canoeing, fishing, Photo Safari, horseback riding, alligator and nocturnal wildlife spotting and hiking. The Pousada do Rio Mutum is also highly recommended for those who enjoy fishing. The pintado catfish is a particularly prized catch, but anglers can also expect to hook dourado, paçu, or piraputanga. (The best months for fishing are between February and October; there is no fishing between November and January during spawning season.)
