This city retains its African influence that can be felt with all senses. The visual arts are famous for it's naive style. The music of Bahia has undergone resurgence with the appearance of the Afro drumming troupes that have worked with international artists like Paul Simon. Dance traditions can be traced back to Africa, such as the Candomble. The most expectacular demonstration is the capoeira, a martial art dance of Angolan origin. The local cuisine is delicious. Try the dende and the famous acaraje. AXE!! |

Pelourinho by night; Solar do Unhao, where you will see the sacred dances of the Candomble, the macule, the caboclo and the capoeira; Cachoeira Country.where you will visit the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte, this is a journey in time to the Brazil of yesteryear.
