There is a good fishing at Ocotal year round. Sailfish, Marlin, Roosterfish, Mahi mahi, Yellow Fin Tuna and over 15 other varieties of fish can be captured any month of the year in the Gulf of Papagayo.

Crews are professional and accommodation, loaded with a lifetime of local fishing knowledge, but eager and willing to try new different tecniques. Ocotal has its own fleet equipped with:

Ocotal believes strongly in the preservation of the fishing resourses and encourages all bill fish and non-eating fish to be released. The crews are extremely knowledgable and exprienced in how to correctly release fish to insure the highest probability of survival. We ask the cooperation and participation of all fishing guests to aid in their efforts to preserve these magnificent marine creatures.

The fishing day starts at 6:15 a.m. with breakfast on the picturesque terrace overlooking the Gulf of Papagayo. Boats are ready to depart at 7:00 a.m. The eight-hour day generally includes a one -hour run time and 6 hours of fishing.

The Hotel:
Located along Costa Rica 's beautiful Northern Pacific coastline in a privileged location with panoramic breathtaking views of Papagayo Gulf and offering an extensive variety of services, including a health Spa, snorkeling trips, kayaks, mini gym, mountain bikes, superb cuisine, comfortable rooms, all with great ocean view and surrounded with the captivating magic of the tropics!

All rooms have great ocean views with king sized or 2 queen sized beds and a/c, cable TV, telephone, coffee maker, safe box, hair dryer, private terrace or balcony. Suites include living room, refrigerator and Jacuzzi. Food and beverage service to all pools, rooms and beach. The resort features 3 swimming pools and Jacuzzi, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, 1 wet bar. Dive shop and sport fishing facilities and a health spa.

Sitting on a cliff and surrounded by the ocean on 3 sides, Ocotal's main restaurant, 'La Brisa', is regarded as one of Costa Rica's most picturesque spots. It serves from an international menu specializing in fresh seafood. At a walking distance and right on the beach, you will find the famous 'Father Rooster Bar & Grill', an old house turned into a bar where tourists and residents from Ocotal Beach meet, a very busy place during the high season with excellent food, great music and dancing. And then, there is the "Caracol snack bar", located near the dive shop and the beachfront swimming pool, where cocktails, snacks and fast food are served.

Ocotal beach is a calm sandy beach about 1/3 mile in length and ideal for swimming, snorkeling and beach activities. Ocotal Beach is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy the quiet easygoing peace of this isolated area. Only two miles away is Playas del Coco, a small fishing and tourist village, were you could find all kind of restaurants and bars. A couple of discotheques will let you feel the local flavor.

Your Package includes: Transfers between the Liberia airport and El Ocotal; 5-night accommodation at the El Ocotal hotel in a Standard room; 4 days of fishing; breakfast and box lunch; Fishing in 32 ft boat with captain, mate, bait and basic tackle; Soft drinks, fruits and water; Beer on board; and Hotel taxes.
