General Facility Description
Located on the shores of the Kapawi Lake by Pastaza River, in Sharamentsa, on the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin.
The twenty thatch-roofed Cabaņas (huts) that are aligned along a small lagoon look from the air like a rather unimpressive project. However, by combining the vernacular architecture, exogenous and low-impact technologies plus a unique and friendly working relationship with the Achuar it was possible to create what has been called "Ecuador`s closest approach to the perfect ecolodge".
The lodge offers a dining room (located at the central part of the complex),
with outstanding service, offering a tasty combination of Ecuadorian and International
dishes, combined with products from the rain forest. It offers a beautiful verandah
where some of the meals can be served; and which can also be used as a place
for early bird watching while you sip freshly brewed coffee.
The bar is open until 12.00 p.m. and there is also a library which is open
all day with a wide range of paperbacks, magazines and books. A small boutique
provides essential items you may have forgotten (film, toothbrushes, toothpaste,
sunscreen lotion, insect repellent, hats, etc.), as well as handicrafts and
souvenirs.
