The city of Morelia is one of many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Mexico. Founded in 1541 under the name of Valladolid, the name was changed in 1828 to honor local hero Jose Maria Morelos. Its beautiful colonial buildings, plazas, and religious sites that still maintain the provincial character of old times allow you to enjoy the rich colonial and Purepechan legacy for which Morelia is known for.
