Puerto Varas is a nineteenth century port, situated at 12 miles north of Puerto Montt, on Lake Llanquihui, that faces the white cone of the Osorno Volcano. Renowned as one of the most beautiful trips in the area, Puerto Varas sits at the banks of the lake crossing from here to Argentina (Bariloche), sailing through emerald lakes and winding roads across the Andes mountain range.

| ESSENCE OF THE AREA |
| North of Patagonia, few lanscapes can equal or surpass the beauty of those beyond the Rio Bio Bio, where volcanic cones, blanketed by glaciers, tower above deep blue lakes, ancient forests and verdant farmland. The regions most important cities are Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno, Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas.
Temuco is a good starting point for exploring the area; Temuco is the center of the Mapuche history, and with Pucon along the Villarica Lake offers adventure and incredible landscapes.
Puerto Montt is the gateway to the Skorpios cruises, and it from here that you can take your flights to southern Patagonia, Balmaceda, and Punta Arenas and the Lake Crossing.
