| Belize City (3 Hotels options in Belize City) |  | Belize City is the country's only urban genuine area. It is Belize's commercial hub, transportation, cultural center, main seaport and most populated region. It is the gateway to all the other tourist areas in the country. Belize City itself does not have many tourist attractions; overnight stays are mandatory only when you book an optional tour like Lamanai, the Panti Trail, etc. There are two airports. Domestic flights leave from both of them although flights from the domestic airport are less expensive.

| Ambergris Caye (26 Hotels options in Ambergris Caye) |  | Ambergris Caye is the largest of Belize's nearly 200 offshore cayes . Commuter planes (15- minute ride) and water taxis (1-hour ride) link it to Belize City. The airstrip is in the heart of town, so most resorts are just a jump away. This is the capital of carefree and casual: there are no paved roads, traffic lights, and no high-rise buildings. Although most resorts are beach-front, Ambergris is not a beach destination in the traditional sense. |
