Comprised of approximately 350 islands and islets, 60 of which are inhabited and 30 coralliferous. The San Blas Island or Mulatas Archipelago is located along the northeastern coast of Panama in the Caribbean Sea. Turquoise waters surround white-sand beaches dotted with palm trees and thatched-roof Kuna villages. Inhabited by the Kuna Indians, they are determined to protect their culture and the environment.

ESSENCE OF THE AREA
This is a vacation that will take you to another cultural world. Owned and run by the Kuna people, these green-forested islands surrounded by clear water and reefs are incredibly beautiful. There are Kuna Villages on about 40 of the 350 San Blas Islands. This is cross-cultural adventure travel at its best. The Kunas are proud of their culture and happy to share it but please be respectful of their customs.
RECOMMENDED STAY
Two nights, you fly here by plane from Panama City.
RECOMMENDED SIGHTSEEING & ACTIVITIES
Snorkeling, swimming, shopping (the Kunas are famous for their molas).
MUST SEE
Kuna villages and the nearby islands; snorkeling sites (You can always hire a private boatman once in your hotel and go off and explore).
