Visits to the Indian Villages, overnights in jungle lodges, walks through lush rain-forest in search of brilliant toucans and parrots, traveling by dug-out canoe down hidden tributaries, and cruising the Napo River above a 50 passenger floating hotel, are all part of the adventure awaiting in the Amazon Jungle. Description of lodges in the Amazon can be found by clicking on the map. |

| ESSENCE OF THE AREA |
| Much of this wilderness remains unspoiled, unexplored and sparsely populated with indigenous settlements along the tributaries of the Amazon. Protected areas take up a large portion of the northern jungle, in the provinces of Sucumbios, Orellana, Napo and Pastaza, Yasuni National Park, the Cuyabena Wildlife Reserve, and the Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve. The advantage of the lodges is that they are relatively more accessible since the tourist infrastructure is well developed, with an emphasis on environmental and cultural awareness and conservation. The southern jungle is less developed for tourism, but precisely for this reason it offers unique opportunities and demands extraordinary respect, as well as more time and money. You will need to overnight in Quito since most flights are in early morning.

| RECOMMENDED STAY |
In the Northern Jungle:
You need a night in Quito at the beginning and at the end of your stay at Sacha. The normal tour schedule at Sacha is from Monday to Friday (5 days/4 nights) and Friday to Monday (4 days/3 nights). Your journey will begin in Quito with a 45 flight, then a short ride to the town dock for your 2 ½ hour canoe ride, then you will arrive at the 5,000 acre reserve and you will continue deeper in the jungle on the dugout canoes until you arrive at Sacha Lodge.
In the Southern Jungle:
You need a night in Quito at the beginning and end of your stay in Kapawi. Your journey will begin by flying from Quito on a private aircraft, and then you embark on a magical canoe ride down a tributary of the Amazon. The lodge offers flexible itineraries adapting to the interests and conditions of the eco-tourist. Since you fly on a small aircraft it is recommended that you limit your luggage to a minimum, since the maximum weight allowed is 30 pounds per person; we recommend to bring a backpack or a duffle bag.
Suggested itinerary:
3 nights/4days from Friday to Monday or
4 nights/5 days from Monday to Friday
