Bariloche is nested along the eastern slopes of the Andes and along the southern shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi in one of Argentina's premier summer and winter resorts. This alpine style town has an abundance of boutiques, shops, pubs, tea houses, discos and restaurants. There are a variety of hotels, most within short walking distance of the main plaza.

Cerro Catedral
Cerro Catedral is the most important ski center in the Southern Hemisphere. You get to it by driving along Avenida Bustillo to km 8, from where you will turn left towards Centro de Salmonicultura -a trout hatchery- and through Villa Catedral to the base of Catedral mountain at 1,000 meters above sea level.

Whether to ski or simply to enjoy the breathtaking view from the top, Catedral offers a wide range of services and lifts.

Cerro Catedral, the ski area, has 5,000 acres of ski slopes with over 40 miles of ski trails (15% easy, 60% medium, 20% Advanced and 5% for experts).
Elevation at the top is 6725 feet and at the bottom 3445 feet with a vertical drop of 3280 feet.

Special ski buses make the 20 to 30 minute run to the slopes in the morning and return in the afternoon on a set schedule.

There are 33 ski lifts at various levels on the slopes, 9 ski chairs, 17 teleskis, 2 babylifts, and 1 cable car with a combined lift of 20,000 skiers.
